Change Is In The Air December 26th, 2008

ScreenshotThought I’d update everyone on the status of Rithum. I know it’s been slow lately, and there’s a good reason why.

For the past several weeks, a small group of community volunteers and I have been feverishly working on the next phase of Rithum.

First up is a complete site re-design. This includes the band editor which is in severe need of love. The new layout will be a huge surprise to everything. We’ve listened to all of your suggestions and hopefully have created something that is more visually pleasing (not saying the current layout is bad), user friendly, and can display more information without cluttering the page.

Profiles will get a makeover. You will be able to make design customizations to some extent. Information will be separated into tabbed sections. And more tightly integrated with your favorite bands and friends.

Soon after the initial site release, the updated band editor will go live. Now this is something else that’s special. I can’t tell you what it is yet, but it will be awesome; I’m sure of it.

I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated on the progress. Who knows, maybe I’ll let a few lucky users in on a sneak peak!

Black Friday Special Update November 28th, 2008

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

As you can see, the header on the homepage has changed. No longer will you see Dashboard Confessional sitting there (not that there’s anything wrong with them). But now there’s a big empty space. I felt nice and decided to not plop the ad in there that would normally occupy the space. Instead, I want to hear from you on what you would like to see there. Anything is fair game.

In addition, I fixed the popup notifications for logged in users alerting you of new wall posts, friend requests and private messages. Let me know if you have any issues with it.

If you haven’t been lurking the forums, you should be aware that I am currently seeking people who would be interested in doing some small time moderation work around the site. It’s a great change for any aspiring site moderators to get their foot in the door (and beta test some cool new features). See this thread if you are interested.

Improvements To Frontpage Band Listing November 22nd, 2008

Hey guys, you might not notice right away, but the way bands are shown on the homepage changed a lot. Basically it shows the bands that haven’t been played the longest. This allows all bands to get equal “air time.”

I am also requesting suggestions. Create an account, and post what you think here.

Some Recent Updates November 2nd, 2008

I think everyone should know about the recent changes around the site. There are quite a few that you might have missed. If you want to stay right up to date, add me as a friend and you will be notified when I blog about new features.

Here are some new features:
- Profile Colors
- Profile Mods
- Recent Blog Posts
- AWESOME POINTS

And the one I think you will all find to be better than a life supply of bacon.

Introducing TOP TEN. This is a special profile page that updates every night and puts together a playlist of the most played songs from the previous day. There is a good possibility of a few more of these for specific genres and maybe one for the lowest played songs.

Another cool feature coming tomorrow.

1 Million Songs Served in the Last Seven Days July 24th, 2008
Rithum Likes Peoples

We take great pride in our achievements over here at Rithum. Which is why I am going to make small fuss over our most recent milestone.
We have served up over 1 million songs in the last 7 days.

While it may not be total world domination, it still means quite a bit to us. This milestone was the very first goal I had in mind when we officially launched Rithum almost 2 months ago.

Thanks to the entire team here for their fantastic work, all the artists that believe there are better ways to reach the fans and last but not least the Rithum videochat fanatics for spreading the word.

Cheers,

Synthlight
